We are all enlisted till the conflict is o´er

 October 1, 2018

So this week was pretty amazing. We had another CCM attack where the missionaries from the MTC came to an area in our zone and we were paired up with one to go out and start contacting. It was pretty cool to see how the new missionaries work in their first few weeks. Elder Haslam is going to be an amazing missionary.

Well also this week I had my final interview with President Amato. It was kinda cool to talk to him about all my plans for after the mission and to really see how much I have progressed here in the mission. I am really going to miss him.

Well as most of you can probably tell from the last paragraph (or maybe you just already know) I am ending my mission soon and today is going to be the last day that I write to you all because on my last p-day I am going to be going around to my last areas and getting to see all of my converts.

Yesterday was a pretty good day but I think that the best part was the gospel principles class that we had. The topic was the missionary work. We had the amazing opportunity to hear all of the testimonies from all the people in there about their experiences about the missionaries in their lives. Truly the missionary work is one of the most important things that we can do here in the church. If you really think about it it is the same thing that Christ was doing when he was here on the earth. Helping others come unto him. and now He has given us this chance to become like him and to bring others unto Him. How great shall be your joy... I know that my joy is even more full being out here on the mission. I have been able to see how Christ has used me to bless the lives of others. I testify of him with all of my heart. He lives! He loves us! and he wants us to come unto Him and to receive the blessings that He desires to give us. Come unto Him. and He will make you whole again. Just as He has to me.

Love you all very much,
Elder Rowan Steven Garbett

Baptism!

Well this week turned out to be pretty good:

1. So this last Tuesday we did another Open area activity where we were assigned to be with a missionary and go to an area which is neither of your areas. So I went with Elder Mabalot (don`t have a picture yet. Sorry) But he is from the Phillipines and we went to an area where there are usually Hermanas. We were there for about 3 hours and we found a ton of people for the sisters to work with. I am going to get a update later about how all of them were.

2. Yesterday we had an activity with all of the converts here in Vitarte. Pretty much the stake presidency talked about the adaption that the converts are going though in their new life as members of the church. At first when my companion and I showed up there was only about like 25-30 people there. But as the time went by more and more people came in and by the time we were ending I looked around and we had pretty much a ward from them.

Well this week we had the blessing of having two baptisms (My companion`s first baptisms!) and their names are Rossita and Victor. About 6 or 7 months ago Rossita got like super sick and I think it got to the point that she almost died. But she eventually recovered and started to serve God. She started to go to many different churches trying to find the right one. She used to be an alcoholic and she eventually dropped that habit. Then after about 4 or 5 months of doing that we came into the picture and started to help her with everything else and last week her an her son got baptized and are now members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

love ya,
Baptisms!

ELDER RENLUND!

September 17, 2018

This week was sooooooo amazing:

1. So this week started off with Elder Armstrong`s 2 week training. It was super kool to see all of the new missionaries and how they took on their first two weeks. At the beginning there were a ton of new missionaries who you could tell that they were all like "what am I doing here?" and so after 2 weeks they all looked so much better and they actually were enjoying being here in the mission. They are going to be awesome.

2. So Elder Armstrong has a friend back at home who got baptized this last Saturday. And president gave Elder Armstrong permission to be able to Skype in and watch the service! So we showed up to the office and we were able to watch it. I forgot how good American baptism services are. There were a ton of people there. To be honest it kinda got me excited to go back to the states and help out more in the missionary work.

Well definitely the highlight this week was that Elder Renlund showed up this week and he met with our entire mission to talk to us! And Guess what?!?!?!? I got to play the piano in the meeting!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! (little girl scream). It was sooooo awesome to be up there. So pretty much all of that practicing before the mission did pay off. But Elder Renlund came to deliver 4 messages (the first three being from President Nelson) 1. Thank you from Jesus Christ himself (this one got me the most) 2. Our call to the Peru Lima East Mission is our call and it is where we are supposed to be and if we don´t know that we have the right and obligation to receive that revelation. 3. President and Hermana Amato were called of God to serve in this mission and to be our mission President and Wife. 4. Attitude with effort results in miracles.
But ah man Elder Renlund was absolutely amazing. We took another mission picture just as a mission and with Elder Renlund. As we were waiting for Elder Renlund to show up you could feel that he had entered the courtyard even before we had seen him. I testify that he is called of God. He is a special witness of Jesus Christ here on the earth.

Miss you all tons,
Elder Garbett
