Faith is a mental exercise

May 28, 2018

Well this past week was pretty amazing. We didn't have pday this last Monday because we went to the temple as a mission. We were assigned to go on Wednesday and so that day was our pday.

But before that on Monday we had a very interesting lesson. Our investigator with a baptismal date is under the age of 18 and so for her to be baptized she needs to first learn and do everything that a normal investigator needs to do and we need permission from her mother to be baptized. But the thing is is that her mom thinks that her daughter needs more time to get to know everything. So we decided to go all for nothing and we felt like we needed to do the pre interview with her mother present. So everything was going well until 10 minutes before the lesson the person who was going to join us decided to take a nap and didn't want to come with us. So in that moment we needed to find somebody else or we weren't going to have the lesson. We eventually called bishop who started to verbally burn us for asking him on a family home evening night but then he stopped and said that he would join us. We eventually got in and we had bishop introduce himself to the mother. He began by talking about our conversation with him to see if he could accompany us to the lesson. He said that as he was talking to us he said that he heard a voice that told him that he needed to come with us. As soon as Bishop said that the room was instantly filled with the spirit. After the introductions were done we explained what we were going to do and we started with a prayer. After the prayer my companion started with the first two questions and then I continued with the next two. As we progressed with each question you could feel the spirit continually grow stronger and stronger. In fact it was so strong that my companion began to studder when I passed it on to him (he later told me that he had never felt the spirit so strong and that he was having a really hard time focusing. so hard that he couldn't read the baptismal questions). What made it amazing was that our investigator was absolutely prepared to do the interview and her answers were absolutely incredible. Afterwards we asked her mother what she thought about that. She was super surprised at how much her daughter had learned and at how much that she had changed in just one month. We then went in bold and pulled out a permission and asked if she would sign the permission so that her daughter could get baptized. AND SHE DID!!!!!! this last Saturday we had the baptism and everything went absolutely amazing!

Well we had an incredible miracle with our investigator but also this last week we had a multi zone conference. and the topic of the conference was how faith and the law of consecration helps us be the missionaries that the Lord wants us to be. For the past 8 months the mission picked up a phrase that has changed the mission a ton. And that phrase is that "Faith is a mental exercise." Every since we picked it up we have begun to see more and more miracles in the mission. But President shared with us a scripture that is commonly known to all of us which is found in Doctrine and Convenants 4:2. And President focused in this part:
"...see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength..."

So the question that president asked us was how can we serve using all of our mind? He then went on to do a practice on how we could use our mind to grow and use our faith to see miracles. I learned a ton in that practice. I really had to use a strength in my mind to be able to grow my faith. and now I am seeing more and more miracles. just like with our investigator.

miss you all tons,

Finally here are some pictures. some of them are baptisms and the other is what happens after working so much. (i´m just acting in case anybody was wondering.)
