Well this week was super awesome. Sorry for not emailing yesterday but I will explain that here:
1.
Well we went to the temple today. Super awesome and I got to see a
bunch of people there. First off I saw a bunch of newbies from the CCM.
"Me: Hey Nuevos! Gringo: Eggs? Me: No! Nuevos! Gringo: Why are you
calling us eggs???" After that I saw President and Sister Moore from the
CCM. I can't believe that after 7 months out of the CCM Sister Moore
actually remembered me. I think it was because I lost all of my
suitcases for the first 4 weeks in there.
2. I
went on splits with the Zone leaders again. So once again it was two
gringos walking down the streets of Peru preaching a gospel that was
restored in the United States in Spanish. We got some interesting
looks.
3. One of our investigators had her
birthday this last Friday and her family planned a surprise birthday
party. So as missionaries we went and helped set up and surprise her.
But it ended up that she never showed up in the time frame that was
allowed for us and so we left. But the next day we went and visited her
and we found out that she was about 4 hours late and she didn't show up
until 11. And sometimes my mom thought that I was late sometimes.
Well
this week was super great. We had a baptism this last Saturday and we
actually baptized an entire family. I mean I have heard of missionaries
baptizing families before but I never thought that I would have the
chance to baptize one. Their names are Juber, Marybell, Juber Jr., and
Gianella. I'll just say that it was super amazing and great to see them
take that step in their lives. But I think that my companion gyped me
there. We each were going to baptize two of them. But when he found out
that we weren't going to have hot water for the baptism he decided to let
a different member of the church baptize one of his people. So he ended
up being in the water for about 3 minutes while I had to stay in there
for like 10 minutes. I am surprised that I didn't catch hypothermia.
I miss you all tons,
Elder Garbett
